The Reiki Connection

Readers!  Perhaps you’ve heard of Reiki by now….According to the International Center for Reiki Training, “Reiki was developed in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui and brought to the west by Hawayo Takata.  The popularity of Reiki has grown exponentially in the past few decades.  A survey conducted in 2007 indicates that in the previous year, 1.2 million adults and 161,000 children in the U.S. received one or more Reiki sessions”. Well, that’s quite a few people and more are added to that roll every day.  The overall Reiki experience is one of relaxation, supporting healing on the physical, mental, psychological and spiritual levels.  So it stands to reason that the popularity of this modality has expanded to the medical field.  If your patient is relaxed, he/she is more likely to allow the healing process augment illness.
